Signal K not running Localhost refused

I just upgraded to OpenCPN 5.8.4 on my raspberry pi 4.
now signal k won't start. I get localhost refused to connect. I don't have a firewall. I've tried to re-install signal k, setting port 80, and so many other things i can't remember them all!

Any ideas?

You could give openplotter a try, well tested to make sure it all plays together well.

Re: Signal K not running Localhost refused

Apologies for the cryptic post! I was tired and frustrated. So, here is a little more info:

I installed Openplotter which loaded version 5.8.4 of OpenCPN. At this point, Signal K failed to load. I tried reinstalling Signal K and after it went through it's installation routine, it concluded in green that Signal K was installed (Running? I'm don't remember exactly what it said). But running the diagnostics showed that Signal K was not running. Clicking on the Signal K icon, gave me the localhost refused message.

Then I noticed that my Mottissier Hat was not running (no satellite data) and maybe was the culprit, so I installed the latest version of that software (2.4.2, I think). That installation appeared to go well, but still no Signal K. Ifconfig indicates the port is active (I think, not sure what all the report data means).

Yes, I'm a noob, but I have successfully been using Openplotter with Mottissier hat for five years! If you choose to help me out on this, you may have to hold my hand and walk me through the steps to trouble shoot this!

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

If you using raspberry pi4 you can try BBN Marine OS. Its image includes SignalK which starts by default with no additional installation scripts to be run.

Re: Signal K not running Localhost refused

Problem solved! Embarrassling, it was a stupid noob mistake of not following directions. I installed the imager as instructed. I downloaded the open plotter image files (32bit and 64bit, more times than I can remember). I started the imager as instructed. But here is where I goofed. The instructions say to scroll down and use custom files from your computer. Instead, I kept choosing one of the Raspberry Pi images from the drop down list. I had installed and reinstalled, and Installed again so many times my eyes have gone blurry!

Once I followed the directions correctly and installed the image I had downloaded, it just worked! No issues at all!

Grrrrr!
