Problem with connecting depth sounder to OCPN

Hello,

I am having difficulties getting my depth sounder with Open CPN to work. I can't find much information on the Internet hence I'm posting here.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Setup:
Navman 2000 Duo (speed & depth)
connected Navman to Computer via USB - NMEA 0183 converter
running Open CPN 4.4.0 Build 2016-05-31

The connection seems to work and I get a data stream, see attachment. Unfortunately the depth plug in shows nothing.

Any ideas?
Thank you!

Re: Problem with connecting depth sounder to OCPN

UYA...
I can see a problem with your NMEA strings. There are no checksum. A "normal" NMEA message should look like this:
$IIDPT,14.8,0.4,100.0*7A + signs for row end new line. (Compare my attached NMEA debug window) The "*7A" in my example is the checksum indicating a proper message. For some reason are these missing in your strings and therefor are your messages not handled by the Dashboard.
Try:
1) Check if your message sender, the NMEA converter, has a option to send with or without the checksum. If so set it to use checksum.
2) Uncheck "Control checksum" for your converter's connection in tools connection options, see image 2.
Good luck
Håkan

Håkan,
thank you very much for your reply. Makes sense to me...
I will be on the boat next weekend. Let's hope it also makes sense to the boat :-o
Cheers Patrick
