Polauto Recording

Hi I am trying to use polauto to create a polar by playing a NMEA log file through NavMonPc. My issue is I have created the virtual ports in navmon, can play the file OK, Open CPN gets the data OK and display's it. But when I try polauto the port works ok and there is data in the NMEA sentences window that scrolls ok but the program says no wind data! and no boat speed, and wont plot. What am I missing here?

You've done well so far. Almost there.

What is the Nmea file you are using? It has to have the data needed. Also read the configuration chart and instructions carefuly, you must pick betwen Speedo and GPS etc.

If you find out it is the file not having the data. Try Opencpn Bea File thingie in the Nmea directory. Download Harmut file

I can replay it with navmon over virtual ports and open cpn can display the wind/speed data. I have tried all combinations in POLAUTO to try to get it to read the data but it wont. I dont have a speed log on the boat but use gps sog. Is it the file? Thanks for the help.

Ok, I have tested with the Harmut file and it worked. So maybe there is an issue with the nmea log file I created or its playback I think.
I created the file with Navmon it is a .txt file. the harmut one was a .nmea file?

My file plays fine and open cpn can see the wind and speed data but not polauto.

I have tried all combinations in polauto for speed / wind and still nothing.

I created polauto.
The nmea sentences for speed is RMC for the GPS.
I have not used VTG.
Can you use RMC ? if not i can try to implement VTG.

You can try this instal with VTG.
Choise VTG in the conf options.

Glad you found Patrick and there is an improvement. There is no difference between txt and nmea, just rename them.
