Am I missing something? I only see 4.3 (English) and 4.3.1 (Fr)?

Re: PCSail - Excel sheet to make VPP for Sailing yachts

PCSails.xls update to run with Excel2010+Solver with documentation from KiwiSails.
See this post http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1335236 for the file attachments.

KiwiSails notes:

Here is the file rename and remove the doc. Just a few notes.

1. This was tested on Excel 2010
2. You MUST have the SOLVER add on installed.
3. It will come up with a CIRCULAR REFERENCE error. This is normal, and was intentional in the original sheet. Its in the manual
4. I also attached the whitepaper and manual saves others going digging again

I have not completed mine as yet, as I need some dimensions. Thanks

I can't seem to find the download, but Maitai is certainly active in the forum.
If you search for "Polauto" with Google, you can have the French page translated to English, and "yes", there is an English version of Patrick's program.

I just posted in the OpenCPN thread about the need to translate Patrick's .pol file format to a pure .xml format. Since I can't post the .xml format here, if anyone is interested, I can email them the .pol and .xml files (and the .npp file referenced in my OpenCPN post) and perhaps someone will have the ability to convert the data.

As posted earlier here is Patricks website.
The polar files are text files and can be edited. It would be nice to have an xml conversion to, but Patrick would not know what the xml format is unless you tell him or give him a good example and tell him what program it is for. Thanks.

Re: PCSail - Excel sheet to make VPP for Sailing yachts

Patrick,

A conversion would be wonderful to have. Thank you for offering to do that.
I am attaching the working .xml file and the .npp file (that NavSim uses to import and export). It looks as if the files are identical...NavSim must merely take the .xml file and change the extension to .npp so if we make the conversion from .pol to .xml, it should work fine.

One interesting thing I noticed: if I double click on the .xml file, it opens and each line displays first the boat speed, and then the angle. But when I change the extension to .doc and open it, each line has the angle first and then the speed follows.

Once again, merci beaucoup, and we will appreciate seeing the conversion when you are finished.
