Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Dave,

When there is a crash, in first, it is the "crash module" that crash.

I have this information with acrash today. See sceen copy.

And now, O is completely blocked. Impossible to run it.

I was using Weather routing without Climatology but with many boundary that I created with OCPN Draw.

I tried it on a second W7 system and it worked. I went to the failing (W7) system and it hung. I began to wonder if someone had the file open. The only one was Windows file explorer (which really shouldn't have files open?). I closed that and returned to opencpn and it had converted the track to a route. Sorry for the false alarm.

I did, no hang but there's other issues; even if it seems to be something else for wdkester. I got a lot of :
Code:
../src/generic/progdlgg.cpp(435): assert "value <= m_maximum" failed in Update(): invalid progress value
../src/gtk/gauge.cpp(95): assert "pos <= m_rangeMax" failed in SetValue(): invalid value in wxGauge::SetValue()
Moreover in TrackPropDlg::OnToRouteBtnClick if you never click on the toolbar but use the right button pRouteManagerDialog is 0.

Quote:

pRouteManagerDialog->TrackToRoute( (Track*)m_pRoute );
if( NULL != pRouteManagerDialog && pRouteManagerDialog->IsVisible() )
If the compiler is too smart it may remove the NULL != pRouteManagerDialog test.
Should TrackToRoute declared static?

Hi all...
If you experience problems with the GE plugin under O4.2, please try the following patched version and let me know if your problems persist.

Thanks

1. First try: GE failed to start after initiating the new PI.
2.Closed opencpn and restarted.
3. tried GE PI again and it worked.
4. Closed OpenCPN and it exited normally

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

GE started up correctly on the first try, and O closed without hanging or crashing.

however, each time after that, GE opens but only shows the whole large earth, won't connect to chart viewpoint even after unchecking and rechecking the "connect" box.

i'll work some more with it tomorrow, might be something I'm doing wrong.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

i have found that while GE won't automatically follow the chart viewpoint, one click on current position gets GE to zoom into the right place and it will follow after that.

easy work-around, but probably something for your next patch.

regardless, it's great to have GE working in 4.2.

thanks!

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

I have a chart group that consists of KAP charts. I added cm93 worldwide charts to the group hoping that it would behave as a background chart. I think I read somewhere this was possible.

My expectation was that if I zoomed out until the KAP files were "overzoomed" then the quilter would switch to the cm93 charts. This isn't what happens. The only way, I see, to get the cm93 charts is to click on the chart bar. This is certainly useful, just not what I expected.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

The chart quilter does not mix chart types AFAIK. If in KAP "mode" then it only displays KAP charts. Same for ENC-S57 charts. As you noted you can switch mode with the piano keys.

Somewhere I read that this was the one exception to the rule.

What you read is correct, CM93 is an exception.
For me, on Linux, it works as expected.
Are you sure that you are using quilted mode?
Any clues in opencpn.log ?

If it does not work on Windows, it's a bug.

Four runs:
1. Quilted on, OpenGL on - fails to show cm93
2. Quilted on, OpenGL off - works
3. Quilted on, OpenGL on - works
4. restart O, Quilted on, OpenGL on - works

go figure

There are some plugins incl squidio, ais radar and goodanchorage.

I couldn't see anything in the logfile. I've been using opengl on for a long time. Also it was working properly on my boat computer

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

I have a failing test case for using cm93 as background with a group of KAP charts.

Opengl on or off. W7. Preserve scale checked (or not).
Start with a Kap quilt displayed. Bring up Route Manager, select a WP not on the screen, and Center View. You will get the cm93 chart at the same zoom level.

To make it right simply click on one of the KAP chart bars.

Tried on two different systems.

I agree that this isn't much of a problem (I'm not putting it in flyspray) It's mainly for those who want to use cm93 as a background.

Re: OpenCPN Version 4.2 Released

Hi All

Sources from git are not complete and don't allow a new user to built OpenCPN
For example, many files are missing in buildwin

Thanks

J-P...
Buildwin is not having the binary blobs purposedly, not to inflate the git repository, you must populate it with the files from https://sourceforge.net/projects/ope...in.7z/download (There was an update to it about 2 months ago because of the new SVG support)
