Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

No chart bar (on some Android 4.1.2 machines) SOLVED.

Download any "full screen enabler" App from Play.

Images attached.

(PS Somehow I lost my earlier post on this, I might be duplicating, apologies).

Cheers,
b.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

Barnakiel...but does it solve having both: chartbar AND menu? and status bar too for that matter, since the three of these show as being concurrent options in the toolbox...

because that seems to be the most common issue.... I can have a chartbar and status bar OR a menu. But not both.

What happened on your machine?

I will test on ours and let you know if we get here what you want.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

OK.

Is this what you want? (view attached image)

You can see all of the bars at once now.

The status bar has very wee font. Probably can be sorted out by playing around with the toggles.

Cheers,

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

mmm.... no joy so far with a couple of apps tried on 4.0.3 tablet, but oh well, no big deal.
It's nice to see a screengrab /solution where all the bars are properly displayed at one time.

Here:

App - 'Hide System Bar' ver 2.9.4

Android - 4.1.2

It is a generic Android thing but I am not sure which Android version it came with.

barnakiel/Happy...

Don't knock yourselves out trying to fix this in the current alpha.
It is all sorted out in source, I think, and new alpha coming shortly.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

Ay ay Sir!

That mechanism used for full screen Apps is a generic Android feature. Possibly one that can be used in the build to get best / max screen area for the chart.

Looking forward to next alpha (beta???).

Great effort and great job! Thank you!

Maybe when a 'stable alpha' is up we could kick up a list of Android / mobile platform wishes for Open CPN? Not so that wishes must come true, but possibly our ideas from mobile platform(-s) could add new value to the OCPN project as is.

Tica, "push-and-hold" somewhere near left end of tool bar and option appears to add/reduce buttons. That's what works for me ....

Re: OpenCPN for Android Alpha test 4.1.412

Thanks Happyseagull and everyone
I could not get the option "add/reduce the tools bar" but I got the same screen as Barnakiel in his message 109 upward
in the options menu, chose "show menu bar", apply, Ok
a large horizontal bar appears with the Ocpn icon on the left side

the tools bar with icons are still there
By pressing 2 buttons on the same time on the tool bar, a menu opens, look at picture 2 and picture 3
we can keep or hide buttons on the tools bar

by pressing and hold on the left on the screen, another menu opens, picture 1

by pressin the switch on the right of the menu bar, another menu opens, picture 4
by pressing the navigate options, at the buttom, we can find the line Excit Ocpn

thanks everyone for the great job

if news please get me informed

a real shame because everything else works. the icons are a bit small as well. If anyone has a idea, or maybe should I wait more developpment of Ocpn ...
Have you tried switching on "Mariner's Standard" in the Vector Chart Settings page?

The 4.1.412 Alpha test release of OpenCPN for Android is available for download now.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2k8bas3ncf...1.412.apk?dl=0

Changelog:

1. Disable drag and drop on file and directory chooser dialogs.
2. Enable text rendering for vector charts.
3. Correct for unexpectedly long NMEA string from embedded GPS receiver.
4. Disable route leg info popups in touch mode.
5. Enable gl Display sizes greater than 2048 pixels.
6. Enable S57 ENC chart types.
7. Statically enable OpenGL for all android platforms.

Notes:
1. Still having some trouble with display vertical size for certain versions of android. If you have interference between the OCPN chart bar and the android menu/back button area at the bottom of the screen, please let me know. Include your android version number please.

2. Measure function text does not work. We need some work on text display, yet....

3. Route leg popups on route creation and mouse rollover are permanently disabled for touch devices. Similarly for AIS targets. There is no equivalent concept for "rollover" or "mouse tracking" functions in a pure touch environment. Modern Web page design practices have had to adjust to this reality, also.
We may be able to re-introduce the route leg info boxes on route/waypoint drag operations, tbd.

4. A note on performance: If you are seeing what you think is poor performance, please note and respond with your device's total RAM capacity.
512 MB is really not enough for a fun user experience. 1 GB is OK, more is better.
Also, if you find a slow scenario, please give us as much specific detail as you can on the location, scale, chart type, etc. so that we may all try it and compare numbers. Don't forget to note the "cm93 detail level" value in options->charts->Vector charts. This makes a big difference for cm93 chart performance.

Enjoy...

Dave
It is not possible to download the dropbox link?
