OpenCPN complete newbie

I've been using a program for quite a few years called DigiBoat Software On Board, I've never used OpenCPN but would like use it for comparison,. The charts I have are a complete set for Aus, NZ and south East Asia which are Cmap/NT charts on a dongle for DigiBoat Software on Board, would anybody know if these charts will work in OpenCPN, do I need any plugins?, I have downloaded the latest version of OpenCPN but have no idea as to what to do next, I've tried to follow the procedure for OpenCPN charts for Australia which took me to a purchase area at a cost of approx $690.00, bit reluctant as I have a set of complete up to date charts, is there any way to get these carts to work in OpenCPN?

For New-Zealand, all their charts are available for free for OpenCPN, I have the set. Not so lucky for Australia. They make their charts available (for a very expensive price) as GeoTIFF which is a tiff format graphic plus a text file giving the coordinates of the corners and the projection used (WGS84, or Australian Geodectic 1966 most often). It should be possible with this info to convert to OpenCPN.

The Cmap/NT charts are not compatible with OpenCPN at all.
o-charts.org has just released a complete set Australian Charts for 35 euro, to use with the oeSENC plugin.

Thanks Thomas I did see that but wan't sure if that was what I needed, looks like it is.
