Tracing you crash report, thanks.

I don't guess Peter is running his Mac (system language of the OS) not in his mother-language Dutch. He might have mixed for his answer the system language and the OpenCPN language.
Even when declared as a Beta version a software should have been tested so far that testers are able to start the software. Otherwise it is not possible to report bugs.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.127

The Beta version is working very well on my Raspberry Pi 3 with the latest updates, Wayland and kernel 4.4.35.

Oesenc is also working very well.

Only two minor remarks:

I can switch between OpenGL or no OpenGL

With OpenGL setting to off I get some red flashes on the screen. These are gone when OpenGL is set to on.

If OpenGL is set to on, I get a green screen with Grib info. Grib off, than the Chart is back again.

This does not appear with OpenGl is set to off. That was also the case with version 4.4.

Thanks for all the progress.

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.127

Hi B-A,

sudo apt dist-upgrade

Wayland gives certainly a better screen performence.

sudo rpi-update gives the latest kernel update. Now 4.4.45-v7+

Regards,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.127

Beste L-o-L,

tried the 4.9 kernel version on my Raspberry Pi.

Works very well. Olthough no more music playing from internet with Chromium. But is seems to be solved in next update of the Chromium-browser.

And how about OpenGL accelerated video driver ?

Where to get the latest driver, if it allready available and working.

Regards,

Bram

OK, thanks for the info.
We understand the root cause here, and will post a new Beta in a day or so.

Please stand by.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.127

I am preparing the new manual in Dutch for the coming 4.6 already.

Is there already a list with changes in relation to 4.4? And if yes, where can I find it?

Install via ppa gives an error:

pi@openplotter:~ $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bdbcat/opencpn
You are about to add the following PPA to your system:
OpenCPN is a free software (GPLv2) project to create a concise chartplotter and navigation software for use as an underway or planning tool. OpenCPN is developed by a team of active sailors using real world conditions for program testing and refinement.

Using kernel 4.9.5 and the latest updates.

OpenCPN beta works great latest kernel and VC4 driver switched on.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.127

I'm running OpenCPN on Mac OS X 10.12.3, in English (on a mid-2014 Macbook Pro with Intel graphics). I can view vector charts with OpenGL enabled, and raster charts with OpenGL disabled. But as soon as I try to view a raster chart with OpenGL enabled, I see a brief flash of the chart, and then OpenCPN crashes!
I have attached an extract from OpenCPN's log, and the system crash log from the event; I switched chart groups from CMAP93 to raster charts at 14:03:47.
Also, as reported in CarCode's post (#16), I don't see any content in the "vector chart display", "chart groups", "tides & currents", or "chart downloader" panes in the preferences.
