Missing s-63 cells

I cannot work this out.

I have loaded Australian Hydro s-63 charts onto OpenCPN there are a few cells which no matter what I try I cannot view.

I thought I read somewhere if I have more than 100 charts loaded OpenCPN will drop large scale charts.

Questions:

How do I find the missing charts?

Does OpenCPN randomly ignore charts if there are more than 100 cells?

Can I delete everything and reinstall without losing all my permits?

Cheers,
Jeff

I'm not sure I understand the question as above it seems you state you know which cells are not loading.
Cells not loaded and shown for eg. being unreadable or corrupted you should be able find in the logfile.

No. I also highly doubt you have 100 cells to be displayed on the screen at the same time.

You can reinstall everything, but there is no chance it can resolve anything as far as I can tell. Better try to employ a bit of patience, look at the logfile (or post it here), tell us which cells you can't display exaclty, post some screenshots illustrating the problem etc.

The other setting to play with to adapt the quilting properties you find at Options|Display|advanced --> Detail weighing at Zoom/Scale
Here you determine how much detail will drop in and the range of scales charts are taken into consideration for displaying.
Just play a bit with the parameter to find the one that suites your specific charts and preferences.

Hi Nohal,

I attached a screen shot of one of the missing cell. You can see the cell to the east is 1:9000 scale yet to the west is 1:1,500,000 ie the small scale of the area.

And here is the Log file as well.

Re: Missing s-63 cells

The log file is too long to upload.

I'm afraid I am no computer guru, I have no idea how to change the file so it is small enough to post here.

The screenshot was my one miracle per day limit.

If you have any ideas I am all ears.

Re: Missing s-63 cells

Hi bcn,

Yep I have that feature on. It is one of the ways I found out the cells are not showing.

Re: Missing s-63 cells

Thanks for the heads up abt weighting. I will have a look at it. I don't really understand why it is necessary though.

Doesn't OpenCPN show larger scale charts automatically as I zoom in?

Re: Missing s-63 cells

The logfile is not attached.
The chart piano bar at the bottom suggests there is one large scale (actually the largest, most detailed) chart available in the displayed area that is not included in the quilt. Which one is that (hovering the mouse over the green rectangles will show you the information about the individual cells) and what happens if you click on the leftmost darker green rounded rectangle at the bottom?

Re: Missing s-63 cells

OpenCPN does show larger scale cells as you zoom in if they meet the criteria for being shown at the particular scale. You can influence when that happens by adjusting the weight as suggested by bcn already.
To attach big files to this forum, change the file extension to .doc or .pdf. We are also pretty sure not interested in all of it, just in the part covering your last session reproducing the issue, which will not be too big.
