Land detail maps Australian

Hello,

I know we are most concerned with what lies beneath the sea....but does anyone know if we can get base maps covering the land? Is this possible?

I have all the S63 maps I require covering the water, but being able to see roads, towns etc on land is also useful.

I have seen people using openCPN in the US and they seem to have details for the land adjascent to the ocean.

Thanks in advance.

Of course you can. pretty much the equivalent of ocean maps. Start here: Official OziExplorer Web Site - GPS Mapping Software for Tracking and Navigation. Supports Garmin, Magellan, Lowrance and GPS

There are a number of Inland Charts avaiable for various areas. Unfortunately Australai is not one of them

For planning purposes and when connected by internet, zuluwaterways.com delivers value, allowing you to examine

* Navionics charts;
* annotations from Zulu Waterways marking facilities (marinas, fuel docks, etc);
* satellite overlay (Google map style) on the land; or
* map (Google map style) on the land.

Here's a small screenshot, focused more or less on the marina that I use as my base:

I suspect with their raster map and a little bit of work you could integrate it. Probably not to the extent of having the charts combined with marine on one screen. Could certainly achieve a quasi effect, barring other alternatives, with split view mode I would think.
