Got the screen dump. Thanks.

Just to be clear on the problem: I see the green icon in upper right corner.
GPS is recognized. Ship is at dock. Speed is zero.

Please tell me again what the problem seems to be?

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

Jan may not be getting the mag compass headings from the autopilot while at the dock.

When the boat is moving the boat icon in the openCPN will not show the direction the "real" boat is going. The boat icon is mowing on its side like a crab, app 90 deg. from the real heading.

jan....

OK, I think I got it. The $APHDG message does not include variation value, so opencpn is applying a nonsensical variation to the hdg sensor.

Easily fixed. Can you compile from source for Windows? If not, you will need to wait for the next Beta....

Sorry for the hiccup.

Thank you for solving the problem.
I will wait for the next beta, but hope it will not take to long. Very interested to test and show my friends what openCPN can do. That was a little problem when the boat icon went with the side forward

Thank you for the new release. Great work: flowers:

But the boat icon is now going on the right direction (same as COG) under 1 sec. out of 10. During 9 sec it is the same, that the boat icon is app. 90 degrees from COG
One workaround is if the boat icon can be changed to a cirkel instead, the same as will come up when you go out (-) in scale. Then there is no direction on the icon

jan...

This is very confusing to me.

Does the boat icon always point in the same direction, or does it change relative to COG? In other words, is the boat icon ALWAYS about 90 degrees different from the COG, for all observed COG values??

Is there any way to get me some underway NMEA traces?

One way is to add a line to config file:

[Settings]
DebugNMEA=1000

Then the log file will contain some NMEA debug info

Thanks

The boat icon flip from one side to the other +90 to-90 from COG, but for a second it is spot on.
I will try to add the text to the config file.
Is it possible to change the boat icon to a circle?
