Change track line color?

Is there a way in OpenCPN 4.4.0 to change the color of your track line? I haven't been able to figure it out.

Look for Route & Mark manager from the tool bar.

Wouldn't this change the track color after the fact it's been made? I'm trying to change the color of the track that is being generated as the boat is moving and tracking is turned on.

If I had 10 tracks for the day, I would have to go into each one individually after the fact and change each ones color, one at a time? How would I change the default color I guess?

the default values for the tracks are hardwired afaik.

You can modify the settings of a running track though.
Just open the Route Manger, select your active track and edit the properties.

Same as managing the tracks in the evening at the pier.

Yes, if you want a different color, you have to change it. Here is one solution.

1. Click on the "Enable Tracking" button on the task bar.

2. Click on the "Route & Mark Manager" button on the task bar. A dialog box will open.

3. Select the "Tracks" tab. You might notice that you could start a track with a button on the right side of the window. It does not matter if you start the track with step one (above) or from this tab. Select your track from the list on the left. Double click on it.

4. The "Display parameters" section has drop-downs for setting "Color", "Style" and "Width" of the track line.

5. Exit from the "Track Properties" window using the "OK" button if you want to save your changes, or with the "Cancel" button to discard your changes.

You can set the track color at any time after the track is started. The color will apply to the whole track--from the start to the end. If the track color needs to change while the boat is moving, you will have to stop the previous track and start a new one.

Thanks for the explanation Paul. Unfortunately this is what I was afraid of, having to change it every single time.

I use OpenCPN for fishing and often have 10-20 track lines a day, depending on when I want to record my drift. It would be nice to be able to change change the default track line properties once, not every single time.

As a "hack" you might change the track properties parameters in the configuration file (line width). Makes it easy to distinguish a new generates tracks.

And you might perhaps lodge a feature request.
