Can't open OpenCpn v3.2.0

I have just loaded 3.2.0 apparently successfully on my Toshiba laptop running Win 7 SP1 with 6 Gb of RAM and loads of disk space

When I attempt to run the program I get the standard licence info reproduced below and then nothing. A quick look in task manager confirms nothing is running. I have attached the initial txt file in case someone can help me.
Needless to say, any help gratefully appreciated

Re: Can't open OpenCpn v3.2.0

Silverfox...
New install or upgrade? If it's an upgrade, please try to rename opencpn.ini in C:\ProgramData\opencpn (hidden by default, if you need to, search the forum for instruction how to make it visible, links to instructions posted many times...) to say opencpn.bak and try running again... If it helps, we would be interested in the opencpn.bak. In any case we would like to see the contents of opencpn.log in the same folder.

Re: Can't open OpenCpn v3.2.0

Hi Pavel

Thanks for your quick response.

This is a new install, although I have previously tried and uninstalled with an earlier version a few weeks ago when I had the same problem.

I have changed the default so I can see all files but the only file in C:\ProgramData\opencpn is opencpn.log which I have saved and attached as opencpn.log1.doc

I noticed that the system language is set to en_gb and the opencpn language is set to en_us. Is that a problem?

File Type: doc opencpn.log1.doc (3.2 KB, 60 views)

Silverfox...
No, en_gb should not be a problem. Could you try to "Run as Administrator..."? We definitely need more logging in the init procedure for these cases (It's just a note to myself)...

Hmm...
Ok, will go through the startup sequence and try to find the spots that could fail... Need some time though.

Re: Can't open OpenCpn v3.2.0

Thanks Pavel

I don't know if it helps but it seems like the action of accepting the welcome/licence screen by clicking on OK is failing to invoke the load of the next program.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you track the problem down.

Re: Can't open OpenCpn v3.2.0

Your log file states repeatedly
Quote:
Creating new Config_File: C:\ProgramData\opencpn\opencpn.ini
It seems logical that this file actually exist.
Are you sure that you have
* Selected "Show hidden files, folders and drives".
* Unselected "Hide extensions for know file types"
in Control Panel > Folder Options>View tab ??

If you find it, follow instructions in Nohal's first post.

Your log repeatedly stops just short of setting the languages, which lead to -> Which are your system language settings?

Silverfox...
Sent you a PM with link to a special build with a lot of additional logging during the startup, let's hope we can find the spot where it's failing...
