Can SignalK output all its data on UDP port?

Hi, I have all my NMEA data coming into SignalK . I have also installed the SignalK to NMEA converter.
I would like to have various devices such as tablets or phones, that are on the boat network, to access and display the data in "NMEA Display" App or the NKE display app or similar.

Is it possible to set up an output connection on a UDP port so that signalk will send all its data as NMEA?

I'm using WilhelmSK on my iPad and I see pretty much everything. It even works remotely with Tailscale overlay network.

All nmea coming in goes back out again on tcp port 10110 or you could also set up new udp port and send to that but first check out the kip dashboard, does a good job of displaying signalk data on any device which can view a Web page. Available in the app store

Thaanks. I have KIP up and running and like it.

Having done further Googling I think what I need is the udp-nmea-plugin.

When I get to the boat, I will try that and report back.

I've been using from long time a marvellous software called "NMEA router" ver 1.3.66 from Arundale (RIP) it's available in Github, the source code in Visual basic and compiled for windows in the version above.

you can do with that program several option of input/outputs, merge destination, etc.
extremely easy to use.

Hi, Thanks for that suggestion. However I am using a Raspberry Pi running Openplotter and "NMEA router" is a Windows program. It looks very useful for someone running Windows.

As others have said, SignalK outputs NMEA 183 data by default on TCP.

You need to install the SignalK UDP NMEA plugin to enable SignalK to transmit NMEA 183 data over UDP.

Find attached some screenshots that may be helpful
  1. UDP NMEA plugin installation
  2. UDP NMEA plugin configuration
  3. SignalK to NMEA 183 plugin configuration

Important things to remember are to enable the appropriate NMEA 183 sentences in the SignalK to NMEA 183 plugin, and ensure that the IP address (or broadcast address) and UDP port match those on your connected devices/applications.

Re: Can SignalK output all its data on UDP port?

I set up the NMEA UDP plug-in and it does exactly what I was trying to achieve.
Thanks for all the help. Problem solved. Jodel

Re: Can SignalK output all its data on UDP port?

I believe the newer versions of SignalK auto install the UDP Plugin as standard, so setting up that port would be super simple, as it looks like you've already done.
