Transferring data from GPS II and GPS162 to Homeport

For an article in Cruising World, I need to transfer waypoints from my two older GPS units, to Homeport on my Mac. I can cobble together adaptors, 4 and 7 pin to D9pin to USB, but I'm not sure whether they will work with modern software. Has anyone tried it? Alternatives? I hope others with better knowledge will chime in, but I dealt with a similar problem.

iNavX on my iPad uses either .gpx or .kml format while my old chart plotter uses .xml in probably a custom format. They’re all text files so it’s pretty easy to look and them and figure out the basics.

From that I learned enough Python to write a couple of scripts to translate back and forth between the formats. For someone with a bit of programming experience it wasn’t too complicated. The scripts aren’t pretty but they deliver the results I need.
