Problems with Installation Raymarine SPX30 Auto Pilot

Grounding to the battery negative is fine. Virtually nobody has seawater grounding plates

The vast majority of installs I’ve seen are not grounded at all so I don’t think this has anything to do with your issue.

Check the rudder sensor first

Re: Problems with Installation Raymarine SPX30 Auto Pilot

A quick update: We spoke to an electrician (who knows our boat) via WhatsApp. He says that the problem will be solved with the SeaTrail Callibration and the compass will then calibrate itself. We will try that. At the moment, however, we can't go out because we are still waiting for a replacement engine part. That could take a while. I'll be in touch and report back as soon as we've done the SeaTrial. Thanks for all the tips and advice. Ahoy

Re: Problems with Installation Raymarine SPX30 Auto Pilot

Ahoy Everybody,
Thanks to all hints and Suggestion! Thanks to you we could check step by step, and finally solved the problem. We grounded the autopilot (it did make a difference), and turned the fluxgate compass 180 degrees. We also measured the resistance of the Ruder Sensor. All good! Cheers, Ultimate

Wonderful news that you fixed it!

Also, thank you for reporting back what you fixed to make it work. This could provide useful info for someone else if they have a similar issue.
