Thinking about adding a stern mount radar pole.

Those of you that have one does the typical angle of heal have a negative effect?

Do you think it needs to be gimbled?

We installed an Edson 3.5 in radar mast on the stern of our 44 foot boat. We opted to gimbal it and use the top of the radar mast for GPS, Sat Phone, VHF, and a TV. I have it set up so the radar can be locked in place if not in use. I can see a difference in the display when it is not "floating" whne the boat has a lot of heel nothing major. I will gimbal it again.

Marine radars have a 25deg vertical beamwidth.
That means you have to lean 12.5 deg to make top of beam horizontal to water.
Even then,the received echo is only reduced to 1/2 strength.
And so on and so on..,every 12.5 deg of tilt.
