NMEA/IP aware Android apps

Can anyone recommend any Android navigation apps which can receive NMEA data over IP - either by TCP or by UDP broadcast? (Output from OCPN or kplex.)

Specifically, my main objective is to display an AIS radar on my Android tablet.
A plotter app with NMEA/IP support would also be useful as my tablet's GPS doesn't work well inside the cabin (steel hull). I currently use MXMariner, but it doesn't have this capability.

I know apps like this exist for iOS, such as iNavX, but I don't have any iThings.

The same question was posted recently on the YBW forum:
Still no wifi AIS android app?
The app which Digital Yacht posted about at the end isn't fro, but at £6.49 is cheaper than iRegatta pro which looks like the other alternative. Sorry no personal experience of either.

Re: NMEA/IP aware Android apps

Keith thanks for that, a few ideas there but it looks like the general situation with Android navigation apps is abysmal.
I still hope to write my own someday, if I ever have the combination of enough time and enough power in the batteries... :-D
If I find anything useful I'll post back here.

Re: NMEA/IP aware Android apps

Seems that wifi AIS is planned for MX Mariner Release 2.1. However, the current MX Mariner chart coverage seems to be limited to US, UK, Brazil, and NZ. I don't know if Will Kamp has any plans to expand it.

For all it's worth, I'm very interested as well.

Perfect timing, thanks! Just working on hooking up my new Vesper AIS now. Just need to run one more antenna cable and I can try it out.

Let us know how it works. I set mine up using vmAIS on a PC, before the Android app was out. Now everything is buttoned up until the Spring, but I'm looking forward to trying the app.
