Depth Finder Question

I Have a 28ft sailboat. It has a Depth finder mounted in cockpit that was working great all season.. I ran a ground pretty gently when tides were changing and it no longer is working when i turn the power on and off.. (The compass next to it still works when I turn power on to it)

How can I fix this problem I am having with my depth finder? I would like to get my depth finder working before spring time sailing...

Are you saying there is no power supply to the display or there are no readings from the transducer?

Is the transducer mounted in a hole in the hull or does it shoot through the hull?

The boat has a outboard.. The transducer may be mounted in a hole in the hull but I dont see one. It had power and then I ran aground and it stopped working, no display at all. So im thinking the transducer is mounted in a hole. How can I figure out where its mounted and what I need to get it working again.
I bought this boat anad dont know where it was installed.

If there is no display at all, I think either a fuse has blown or a wire has come loose. Even if the transducer is disconnected, the display normally lights up.

You really ought to find out were the transducer is, you need to search all the bilge areas looking for it, unfortunately on a yacht it could be anywhere. Once found make sure there is a wooden bung nearby to go back in place if it ever leaks.

However, start with checking the power supply to the back of the display.

Re: Depth Finder Question

if you can follow that black line coming out of the back of the depth sounder it may lead you to the transducer or at least give you an idea of where it may be placed.
Also sounds like your fuse is blown or connections are loose.
take the tester and see if power is to the unit, and if not then go right to the panel and see if it has power, from here if no power, it could be the switch needs replacing. thats what I would do, best o luck to ya...
