Battery connections on Furuno 1830 radar

My power cable from my 1830 display to the battery is a black and white wire. Is the white + and the black - ?

Looks like pages 2-1 and S-1A:
White is positive and black is negative.
(my curiosity was piqued by this too)

Silly me...as it turns out my unit is a 1715 and yes...the white is positive. I have taken a red sharpie and colored it.

In N.American DC systems Black is always negative.
The other color (Wht ,Red,etc) is positive.

I have seen lots of boats or wiring that black is pos and wht is neg.
that's what happens when AC electricians do DC wiring.

when you see those 2 colors you always need to confirm.

You are correct.Too many boats were/are wired by "land AC electricians",who are trained to assume black is always "hot",which it is in N.Am. AC-but not DC.

However, DC equipment(electronics, etc) comes from the factories wired "black is negative, the other color is positive.
Except for Rule bilge pumps, which use the EU brown & white/blue,etc?.
Just my 44+ yrs observation.
Definitely,test if you can.
Cheers/Len
