Arduino and ST50

I want to connect the ST50 masttop unit with an arduino. Who knows with signals produce the masttopunit.

The windspeed: are these pulses or voltage dependent?
The winddirection: Is the direction in proportion with the voltage?

Re: Arduino and ST50

Most wind speed sensors output wind speed as pulses, where the frequency equates with wind speed. The relationship between wind speed and pulse frequency may not be linear.

Wind direction will often be an analog signal, probably a change in resistance. There is often a dead spot where the readings cross over from highest to lowest. This is probably where the wind is straight ahead.

Thanks Ryan,

I wil have a look as soon as we can go to the boat. Because the boat is in Greece at the moment and because of corona travel restrictions it may take some while.

Re: Arduino and ST50

For wind direction, the ST50 has two connections, one sine, one cosine, both of which vary their voltage depending on direction.

Thanks hafa for your reply.

Do you know with color is for which signal?
