Alternative Raymarine Radar to newer PC without PCMCIA?

I have a 2003 Raymarine system with RC70 Chartplotter and Pathfinder Radar and Sonar. I output data to an older PC running Raytech 6.2. My problem is the video signal for the radar and sonar output to a wide PCMCIA card. They haven't put these into computers for a long time and I want to know if there is a way to output this video data with a different connection common to current PC technology? Raymarine used to sell a black box with USB output for nearly $1000 dollars that was just not a practical price. They are no longer on the market. Is there an alternative way to get this data and could it be done wirelessly where I could share it with my ipad along with other NEMA data?

I have the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

You can get adaptors from places like http://www.amtron.com/adapter.htm.

However, there is really no way to know for sure if any adaptor would work correctly with the Raymarine card.

I dont believe there is a solution, The pcmcia card was dropped in favour of sea talk HS, which is ethernet.

Raymarine definitely does not have a solution, but we were hoping someone might have found a third party device that would work to either read the PCMCIA card and convert to UPS or some other way to input the radar data. The older systems don't work with Ethernet. I have an HP laptop that was made in 2000 that I am using on the boat. Don't know how much longer I can keep it running!

I am afraid that these adapter are working only with memory cards.
(I was working in the PCMCIA standardisation in the 1990 ...)
If you have a aplication as your Raymarine software,
the driver who is getting the data from the PCMCIA card will not work with the USB adapter.
So look for a IBM X60/X61 with a PCMCIA slot.
The keyboard is quite water resistant
and with a SSD you will have a ruggedised notebook.
Greetings, Wilhelm

Jetway has a series of mini-itx motherboards that can have this PCMCIA daughter board added to it. You could put together a mini-itx computer for onboard use.

There are other manufacturers with PCMCIA slots on some of their older motherboards. The Commell LV-671 and the Via MII have a PCMCIA slot. You may find some of these mini-itx boards still available on ebay or from other online dealers.

6 years later but I'm trying. I have a HSB2 to USB2 I/O box if still needed.

I would be interested in the HSB2 to USB box that you have. This should work with the RL70, right? How much do you want for it?

Re: Alternative Raymarine Radar to newer PC without PCMCIA?

Just had it in my hands yesterday when moving our shop south. It will be a while before I can get it back in my hands again.
It was working fine on our boat but finally converted to E120 setup and the HSB2 to USB2 box is not needed on this setup.
I also have my great working RL80 and 10KW arrays for sale.
DSM300 also. These are also buried in my new mini warehouse.
