A Seaclear Question . . .

I have, after a wobbly start gotten to be able to get Seaclear to do most of what I ask it. I am a bit of a ludite when it comes to computers so I bashed my shins a few times getting to this point.

When I use Seaclear for a trip I get a nice trail of where I have been that automatically shows on the chart as I wander about. I would like to be able to delete that line after the trip but can't seem to figure out how.

Without making me feel to much of a fool would some kind soul please take me by the hand(or by the ear if required) and walk me through the process of removing the evidence of my passage on my charts.

Thanks ...........m

Re: A Seaclear Question . . .

From the help file.

Tracks
When tracking is active a track of the boat is saved to disk and displayed on the chart. Date, time,
position, heading and speed is saved. Tracking interval is set in the properties dialog. The filename
is automatically set to current date in ANSI format, track file 20020304.TRC is from March 4, 2002. If
datum changes during a trip, the track will span over two files. When tracking is off track files can be

opened and displayed, printed or exported to a text file. Track files can also be used to create routes.

At the bottom of my dashboard is the list of tracks in red. When I put my cursor over the file name I get "click to change status". left clicking unloads the track.

Kind of drastic, but you could delete the *.TRC file that you have displayed. After the delete, you won't be able to get it back.

Re: A Seaclear Question . . .

While I appreciate the help, when I went to the boat today and opened Seaclear the track was, by some magic or other, gone from the chart.

I did what you outlined in your post and was able to find that track saved with the date so I was sure it was the same one.

I'm still not sure how it was saved/removed but it's off the chart now and if I should need it at some time in the future (for what I don't know) I'll be able to find it.

Thanks for the help...........m

It's saved by default. If tracking is on, the track is written to the hard drive or storage. If the date of the computer and the file match, the track file is loaded. If not and tracking is on a new file is created. By default the old files are not loaded. It they were and you had a lot of tracks saved, the screen would be cluttered with the tracks.
