Lucky you, I was under the lazarette re-beding stations and fixing leaks with my arms above my head, whilst glassing a damaged area this weekend past.
It is better than when I used to walk to school in upstate NY in the winter... 3 miles uphill both ways in a blizzard.
P.s. Who would have guessed the P.O. thought plywood was a suitable material for backing a station plate.

Well, the way it worked out for us is that we have multiple reasons that will prevent us from "living the dream". Pick from lists posted before. There are a lot. Things accelerated on us too.
Nothing left on my bucket list that I am capable of doing so I will have to lower my sights or put away the gun altogether.
It is pretty depressing.
"Go now" is something I wish I heard, and the courage to really listen to, in 1979. I had a really nice 18ft boat that I could camp in/on easily.

Don't beat yourself up guys...
That was pre-internet and you weren't able to put up a blog with a save the world "expedition site" and link a donate button.
It was tough when you guys were kids...

Re: What happens to all the wannabees?
Many of us "wanna bees" are still in the process of "being". My timeline has been upped from 10 years to 7 years to 5 years. The more I plan, the more I am determined and the quicker I accomplish things. Please don't look down your noses at those of us that "stalk" the page and ask questions. While it is true that many may not fullfill their dreams that makes their contributions no less important. If they bring up valid questions and someone learns then it is all valuable- regardless of the origination of the question.

Re: What happens to all the wannabees?
We moved on our first boat 2.4 years ago at aged 71. Decided a ketch was better value than a launch. Last month we crossed the Tasman to warm and sunny Queensland - 13 days, a couple of breakdowns, and couple of days of force 9 gales - great crew - great learning and great adventure.
