Sea of Cortez Charts

Since arriving in the Sea of Cortez I am really surprised at the poor quality of my charts. I'm using Navionics on my chartplotter and also have them on my iphone boating app. I've updated the charts on the phone but there's no difference.
There are no depths given in any of the anchorages.
Are C-Maps any better?

TIA

Shawn and Heather's guides to the Sea of Cortez have quite excellent charlets of most anchorages. They have (for a small fee) electronic charts that work with some systems.

You really need Shawn & Heathers (Blue Latitude) charts (and guides).

The outside of Baja is where the charting is really lacking.

Re: Sea of Cortez Charts

I think Navionics is probably the best charts for the area. Have you turned on the community edits? Most all of the major hazards have been marked along with 'safe passages' in some areas. I never expect the depths anywhere to 100 percent accurate. There are areas that show 7 feet , but when I sail through them it was 70-80 feet. I have yet to have our track go over land, so I think that they are GPS accurate at least. This is our second year in the Sea. Enjoy your time, we sure have.
