It may be that the C-Map you have installed is a “Continental” chart (North America for example) or other large region. The continental
charts have all of the vector data in them for obstructions etc., however they don’t display the details like a localized chart, which of course you would probably have to
purchase and download.
C-Maps customer
service has been pretty good IMO, I would suggest giving them a call and talking to a rep for a better explanation.
As far as details vs Navionics, remember that the “sonar charts” are mostly estimations built off
satellite images. We have found them to be fairly accurate though. C-Map shows some obstructions that do not show on Navionics in our experience.
