Ok, a dumb question, I know.
I have a perfectly good RaytheonLoran unit. It wasn't cheap. I can't bring myself to just throw it out in the trash. Is it good for anything besides a paperweight? Is there any plans to restart Loran, as backup for the GPS system?
I know what you mean however sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. I just finally threw mine out this year since I didn't really need the space it was using. It was too big for a paper weight and not heavy enough for an anchor. lol

I have one I can't bear to rip the panel out. Big hole! SC
I have a collection of old electronics that I took off my old fishing boats over the years out in the barn, loran A, loran C, double sideband radios, direction finders, radars, cb's, depth sounders, etc.
Every once in awhile I take something off the shelf and use it for target practice.
Hey...put it on ebay and see what people will bid for it...I bought a boat this past January and both the owner and surveyor made a big deal that BOTH units worked!!!!

I've done this with obsolete EPIRBs, old distance logs, direction finders, and so on. I ended up with cash, and the other fellow ended up with obsolete (at least to me) gear. We are both happy with the result.
