Re: Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA

Thanks all!

This hot spell should cure the paint quickly (I hope) for another light sanding and another coat of yellow.

I hope to have it out on the water on the Labor Day weekend, and for as much time after, as long as the weather holds. Need to catch up on sailing time, lost.

Beautiful color. I'm trying to think of a color combo to go with that isn't white.. something easy to spot at an ancorage. Still, I have to get a boat first.
I really love that yellow.

Re: Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA

The cap rail and decks will be Seattle gray. The canvas and boot stripe are marine blue. And there will be a red 1/4" pen stripe above the yellow transitioning to the gray.

I really don't like white decks at sea. It's hard on the eyes. I'll take a little heat over the vision problem.

And I'm going to change the huge front on the dodger, a little more forward, with a slopping effect. I think my canvas maker works on power boats too much.

Ditto. That's why I selected a dried straw color on the forward cabin's roof. There is only a miniscule difference of the surface temperature compared to white.

Yellow is a great stand-out, highly-visible color with safety benefits particularly from views obtained from ship bridges, aircraft, and bridge tenders, as I limited it to the pilothouse roof and edge.

Re: Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA

Well, that's it! It was recommissioned today. But still doing some minor finish work while she's in the water. Then I'm heading up towards Canada for a while.

Hi Steve,
Chances are high. My truck will be in for some body work on Tues. and we'll be down to one vehicle between the both of us for a week or so, and the wife still works.

I'm a bit partial to Stuart Is. so I'll be up in that area for the most part. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Re: Denaming Ceremony / BBQ - Everett, WA

Just saw this post today Del I had a yellow boat. It was very easy to spot me. Have fun in Canada. wish I could come up for the ceremony but am too far away.

Your work is more like artwork. You & James really do topnotch work. Congradulations on splashing the Ugly Ducklin, and hopefully soon you will be on your way to the Phils.......i2f
