Besides-derived position is the antenna location-so IMHO-for practical purposes,going beyond two decimal points on a GPS display was a big marketing ploy & adds only confusion to the avg user.

3 decimals is only important when impending doom threatens, as in a furycame from hell,
or when yer lost at sea and you call for assist when your food supplies are gone and you refuse to eat fish.

it's only important if you want to let your AP dock the boat.

that wont work here as you will still be 50 meters to 500 meters off.......gps aint the ticket here unless ye want holey boat ha ha ha

Plugging in decimal portion of minutes vs seconds (swapping whichever way makes it wrong)
You'll still end up within a few meters of the same location....

About the only place I see value in the sort of precision that we are talking about is when using an anchor alert app. You may only know your true location based on the WGS84 grid to within 10-20 meters or more, but it will tell you when you drift a meter or two backwards.

OK....I started this thread and from my perspective I will sign off with this gem. And thanks for the input all, I have an answer to my quandary.

The gem..."wherever you go, that is where you are". Stuff the coordinates !
