This doesn't sound screwed up to me at all. Shipping is expensive. This and drop shipping are both ways to decrease shipping costs as well as the costs born by having the item handled by the dealer/retailer. I've certainly saved money of the years by taking advantage of both. People are of course free to always buy directly from a retail outlet, but you will have pay the increased costs. In this case, I'm sure it would be far greater than 3 days of insurance premiums.
