With all the perfectly sound hulls out there that can be had cheaply, are you sure you want to go it from scratch. I routinely see boats in that size for around $10000 needing a refit. Then make it your own. I know one gent who is 35 yrs into building a Bruce Robertson design. He just got it in the water last time I was by. Building a boat is not building a house. Totally different game.

There are lots of various "kits" for building boats from the famous Bruce Roberts steel boats to fiberglass multi-hulls - a lot of tri-marans are home built. Also there are the above mentioned "unfinished dream" boats by folks throwing in the towel after many years and mucho dinero. You can get unfinished boats from hulls to nearly finished for very reasonable prices as the previous "enthusiast" just wants the thing out of his sight and backyard.
