Bob, why not get an estimate on having it painted, then, since it's just the stern? There is a local guy who has done this on many boats in our marina and his work is beautiful - and they tell us "not that expensive." But our lettering order included the name on each side (7 letters, 10" high, blue w/gold), the home port with a graphic, and the registration numbers. THAT would not have been practical to have someone paint.
