Sailing Novel about Lord Howe Island/Rarotonga ??

Hi There,

I know its a long shot, but I am trying to find a novel I read a while ago which I stupidly lent to an old workmate who never returned it - have fallen out of touch with him, hence I do not know the author or title of the book.

It was Novel of an Australian sailor who sailed to Lord Howe Island then onto San Francisco and finally settled in Rarotonga (possibly had something to do with the starting the little polynesian hotel)

Judging by what I remember from the cover art - it looked as if it was written in the late 70's early 80's.

If this sounds familiar to anyone, would love for you to get in touch.

Cheers
Dave
