Fake safety information

This must be the weirdest safety information film ever. Those eagle eyed viewers will note that the person is not actually on a boat. Just how would a misaligned lid on an overfilled kettle result in an explosion anyway?

Likely inferring water spillage as it heats douses the flame on the LPG stove causing gas buildup which ignites when she tries to relight it..

Re: Fake safety information

Modern propane stoves all have thermocouple safety devices that shut off the flow of gas if the flame goes out. If a stove did not have this, a pot boiling over could extinguish the flame, resulting in gas flowing into the cabin until it was turned off manually. The resulting hazardous situation should be obvious…

So, not “fake” at all. Just out of date.

Not considered that to be an issue as have never had gas onboard.

Re: Fake safety information

Sometimes people install non thermocouple gas stoves on boats. Say you're on Social Security benefits, live on a small boat, don't want to stretch them to a marine stove. It happens, just as trailer sailers may use camp stoves (white gas, or propane canisters).

But generally, marine stoves have all burners thermocoupled. It's a good thing, too.

Re: Fake safety information

luv it - never boil a kettle on a boat - genius!

I like many of the comments on the Youtube site which includes things like -

never use a toaster in a tractor
never fry an egg on a Friday in a fort
never butter bread on an airplane
never microwave strawberries on a surfboard

At least it finally explains the tragedy of the Titanic - they blamed an innocent lettuce when really they tried boiling the big steam kettle.

Re: Fake safety information

Seems odd to me that they would restrict the warning to boats. A small apartment with a gas stove strikes me as being similar to the cabin of a boat. So ... shouldn't the warning be titled something more like "Don't boil water (using gas or electricity)!"?

Don't forget the downstream consequences of heeding this warning:
- Look for the plummet in the stocks of tea and coffee companies.
- Another question on insurance applications.
- A spike in consumer protection suits now that a new cause of action is identified

Boggles the mind.

Did you read all of it? The answers are to use a coil - Is this not a home made kettle?
Or buy an expensive kettle suggesting it will heat up faster ie have more power! Contradicting the section above about using more power than boat maybe able to deliver
All utter Bull

Liked the video though- had me in stitches
