Solomon's to St Michaels

Planning a week long trip from Deltaville to St Michaels with stops along the way. Suggestions for stops between Solomon's and St Michaels?

You could go to Galesville and have dinner at Prate's Cove of Thursdays, or anchor in the Rhode. South River is out of the way, but Harness Creek is nice.
Cambridge or Oxford on the Eastern shore.

Depends on what you mean by "between."

Knapp's Narrows, maybe, just north of the mouth of the Choptank. Maybe Oxford if you feel like going further into the Choptank/Tred Avon, further out of your way. Deale, maybe (or Herrington Harbor South on the south end of Herring Bay), also slightly out of your way.

North from Solomons or St Mary's to good harbours always seems like a long stretch, compared to the rest of the Chesapeake.

We like the Little Choptank. Just a few miles more puts you in the Choptank River which offers Cambridge.

There is a the best Ice-cream on the Eastern shore in Oxford. If you can spare the time I would recommend visiting Oxford. There is a nice protected anchorage just outside of Hinckly's or just outside of Oxford with a beach to dingy too.

There's a beautiful little spot on Hudson creek on the north side of the Little Choptank. Round G1 and drop the hook in 7-8'. Cassion Point is a low sandbar providing wave protection but allowing a great view out to the Little Choptank. It's about 17 nm from the mouth of the Patauxent River. Next day got around to the Choptank and head to Cambridge. You can tie up on the wall in the City basin for free. Watch the crab boats come in to JM Clayton Seafood and even walk over to buy some fresh or canned crab meat. Snappers on the waterfront is a decent restaurant. You can also walk a few blocks up the hill to downtown Cambridge where there are several bars and restaurants. The next day you can take in Oxford, or head up Broad Creek to San Domingo and the "back side" of St. Michaels. Anchor in 7-8' and it's a 1/2 nm dinghy ride to the Town Dock pier. From there, it's only a few blocks walk to downtown St. Michaels bars, restaurants and the Maritime Museum.

We stopped in to Slaughter Creek Marina and bicycled Taylor's Island. Interesting and out of the way kind of stop. Marina has an on site restaurant. There is also room to anchor.

As noted there are no “destinations” between Solomon’s and St. Michaels that are not kinda out of the way.

I’d probably go from Solomon’s to Annapolis in one day, riding the prevailing souwesterlies. Then I would work my way back with any combination of stops in Galesville, St. Michaels, Oxford and Cambridge.

Of course if you want privacy and nature there are a zillion places along the way.

You could easily head East to Onancock, lovely town, but you need to go there Wed to Sat, because the town basically closes down Sun-Tue....
Then head up Tangier Sound to Cristfield if you want (there's not a lot there anymore). If you don't want to go to Cristfield, and for a taste of life on the Chesapeake, stop in Tangier and get a slip at Parks Marina (only place to get a slip). Tangier should be on everyone's list to stop at at least once for the experience! Watch out for tidal currents when you tie up at the marina, they can be strong. From there, head into Solomon's.
I like Cambridge, Oxford, Galesville, Rhode, Annapolis (of course) .......those are the usual suspects

Thanks. Seems to be quite a distance from Solomon's to St Michaels. We are planning on stopping at Tilghman Island on the way back to Deltaville

One other option is to go to the back side of St Michaels, past Bozman and up San Domingo creek. It’s gorgeous up there. Anchor and dinghy in. A few blocks walk into town. Saves you having to go up and around if other destinations don’t take you up to Ebay.

Yep. That would mean missing the entertainment in the main harbor, but OTOH it also make a stop at nearby Oxford less out of the way.
