Sailboat Heading South Late

I keep getting pushed back, hopefully leaving chicago next weakend, destination gulf of mexico, by way of the tenn tom waterway, im not sure what to expect for anchorages, I'm not sure when i can put up the mass, i'm single handing this one, in a 24 ft boat, already stocked,water food heat gene. Anyone know if the locks are all open? or a site i can get compleat info for about thes trip?any good sugestions?

24-foot-boat ... sounds trailerable! Probably cheaper to get someone with a pickup and a trailer to help you move. Tenn Tom should have plenty of mast height; see tenntom.org although they have a couple of broken links.

Check out greatloop.org for boatloads of info and faq, plus get some good guidebooks (hint hint). You'll need to dismast for at least the first part of your trip, and you'll need to make sure you have enough fuel for some of the longer stretches (and know which fuel stops are still open this time of year). I'm agreeing with Pat above...trailer it down at least to the Kentucky Lakes, or better yet all the way to Mobile. Good luck, and have fun!
