PC ANDROID APPLE more useful OS?

Have my GPS plotter on board and started to use my Windows tablet with electronic charts,like it better and selection seems wider and better priced .
Some offerings work on specific hardware OS,is there a preference ?

My preference is Coastal Explorer made by Rose Point Nav in Redmond, WA. Windows only at this time. I run it on my MS Surface. Works great and gets my highest recommendation.

OpenCPN runs on Win, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi. Criteria to consider when selecting a platform:

1. Am I familiar with the platform?
2. Can I get service/parts/advise for the platform locally?
3. Which platform offers the best performance for the money (value), given available local and online options.
4. Which platform has devices that meet my environmental needs (waterproof, portable, screen size, battery life)

been using Polar Navy on a cheap windows OS tablet with a GPS dongle satisfied my needs,however the tablet is on its last stretch,looks like will have to replace it,Polar Navy works only on Win OS
I am curious what platform offers more choices as per members experiences.
