Navionics exporting files bug/Feature

Hi there.
Iv'e been looking at exporting GPX files (routes) from the web app to iPhone and noticed that once imported a whole stack of waypoints are added. This goes both ways. For example a route with 3 way points becomes a rout with 30 or so waypoints. These added waypoints are useless and make the rout unusable. I emailed Navionics and got a reply along the lines of " I have passed this to our tech people to look at, in the meantime go our help section yadda, yadda. (which also is crap.) Anyway looked at a navionics promotional video on youtube - "How to Export and Import GPX Files with the Navionics Boating App"

If you look at 11 seconds in you will see original route. At 1:16 you will see the imported route. - This shows the situation exactly. I made a comment below the video and was told that they know I have been in touch with them by email and follow up there. Yeah right. That was a week ago. Before I get back to these people (or is it a person) has anyone else had this issue?

Regards Neil

Re: Navionics exporting files bug/Feature

As a new boater deciding which navigation software to buy, and also as a user of ArcMap, this is a bug, not a feature, and I hope to find some other software that imports/exports without modification.

Re: Navionics exporting files bug/Feature

I find Navionics in itself good navigation software for my needs, however the implementation in my B&G Vulcan MFD is not great as its a bit clunky to use so I wanted to set up Routes using either there web app or an iPad and transfer them to the MFD. Unfortunately because of this bug this does not work. I will take this up with Navionics (who have not replied to me) and see if they can fix this. I really just wanted to see if other users have this problem as well.

The added waypoint are present in GPX file or are "created" by the app?
Just to know if the bug is in web app or in iOS Boating app.

Re: Navionics exporting files bug/Feature

The issue is with the app. With further testing I have found that the bug occurs when you do an automatic edit of a route. This often means the route will adjust to avoid hazards etc, often this means adding a curve to the route to avoid a Bouy for example. On syncing with another device additional waypoints are added along the curve on that device. The original route on the device where you created the route stays the same. Now, i understand that in the US you don't have the option of autorouting on your version of the app so this may not happen to US users.
