Nav Tip Sooke/Bamfield pls

First time on west side for sailing 36'. I have read here that leave Sooke early and on the ebb to miss winds. However, no early ebb as far as I can see from Sooke so I am guessing just leave early anyway to miss the winds (for those who exp on this leg... thanks) I want to leave Wednesday this week 17th.

Re: Nav Tip Sooke/Bamfield pls

Was in Sooke a few weeks ago, nice place. The last post that discussed this issue said you have to balance the current, the fog and your timing. It also suggested to keep to the north side of the Strait if you're going against the current. Sage advice. Have a great trip.

Looks like you will have a weather window, but the west winds will be right in your face almost the whole trip... When I came up 6-7 weeks ago we didn't have a good ebb tide to catch either, so we just left early in the morning too!
