Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

This has probably been covered somewhere, but I just now realized that my C-Map nav program no longer is able to update the AC database. Been boatless for a while so I never paid attention, the old data still shows up. Are there any nav programs for Android that support AC data? Getting ready to move our new to us boat from FL to TX and was really looking forward to using AC.

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks, I'll take a look. C-Map still works with the old database so it should still be good for anchorages.

MX Mariner doesn't show up in the Play Store.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. Our C-Map app is Plan2Nav, and they made an announcement several months ago, coincident with the timing of the changes required to satisfy the new European privacy laws, saying they weren't gonna deal with AC anymore.

AC markers do not show up on the one tablet I just checked.

OTOH, C-Map has had its own marina info embedded in their charts for more than a decade, almost two at least... and that info is still there.

I just checked the Play Store with one of our tablets; it shows up for me. OTOH, that's checking with a tablet that already has MX Mariner installed, if that might make some kind of difference.

Re: Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

The message I get claims that the AC database cannot be downloaded anymore but that the old one should still work. When I first started Plan2Nav it seems that it was working but then I tried the AC download which failed and now the AC data is gone. Bummer.
I can get to the MXMariner download site by entering the URL for the site but can't get the "buy" to work.

I don't get that message in P2N; AC markers have disappeared sometime or other. Maybe coincident with an attempt to download after they stopped AC support... but I don't quite remember. That would have been back in May sometime...

Can't advise ref MX Mariner, but Will Kamp, the developer, has been helpful with support so you might ask him what up.

Re: Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

I just checked MX Mariner installed on an ooooolllddd Nexus 7, Android v 5.1.1 (no more op sys updates).

Even with the old tablet and op sys, the app still works, AC markers still update (had to do that, since I probably hadn't opened the app since the changeover), and I can change chart regions (had to do that, too), and so forth. (The whole process was pretty slow, but I hadn't turned on that tablet for a few months.)

The tablet finds the app on Google Play, but it does present with the comment: "This app may not be optimized for your device."

A query to Will may be your best bet...

Re: Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

I know I have used Plan2Nav since May and the AC stuff showed up. I think I screwed it up by trying to download the AC database again.
My tablet is running Android 4.2.1 so I guess that is really old. Maybe time for a new tablet.
Has anyone tried the PC AC program with a Windows location device?

Re: Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

Hi,

If you have Plan2Nav, definately do NOT try to update the AC database. I read somewhere that it will delete the old database but there will not be a new one to upload. the old one still works on my Galaxy Tab S.

That seemed kinda odd, so I checked with the newer 10" and 8" tablets, same comment for each.

Maybe the app is ostensibly "optimized" for phones or some such...

Unfortunately I discovered that "feature" too late. You would think they could at least keep the last version out there for downloads.

Re: Any Android Tablet nav apps with AC support?

Just installed MX Mariner on another tablet. Downloaded chart region, worked fine. Try to download AC, get a message "Oops, something went awry." Now what?

Ummm... dunno, but it's a different address from previously. something.dot.garmin.dot.something... and that'll be the address MX M is using.

Anyway, find AC in a browser, register again if you haven't already (your old registration will not have rolled over), then once that's squared away, try again with MX M.

Been there, done that, still no joy. Got an email in to the MX Mariner folks.
