Maxwell HWC 2200

Hi. Can the 9-11mm chain wheel that is standard on the Maxwell HWC 2200 winch be changed for the 10-13mm that is standard on the HWC 3500.
I am wanting to upgrade my chain to 12mm,but have been told by the retailer that sold me the winch that the chain wheel cannot be upgraded to the larger size.
Does anyone have some info on this?

the 3800 chain wheel is thicker by about 15mm the wheel is also larger and from memory the spline is also a different size so without a lot of work moving the windlass to realign it and having a new spline attached it won't work, if you only want a stronger chain why not change to a stronger one,if its because you have a spare 1/2'' chain then it would be easier and cheaper to upgrade your windlass. the 3800 windlass is about 50% slower in retrieval though so choose carefully
