Hi to all


Was just wandering what the different lettering colors on shanks of Fortress anchors meant. Are they different generations or grade..?
Looks like the new of the shelf are red. What about blue? Any upgrades or changes?
I'm using a Delta 55 as primary anchor and I'm very satisfied. It's just that I could get a good deal locally on a FX 37 that I could use as a stern anchor but it is a blue lettering one.

I'm sure Brian will be in soon to tell us definitively what the different colors mean. There may have been some changes over the years, but I have a couple of Fortress anchors that date back to the early '90s and they look just about the same to me as the new ones, and they have certainly performed well many times. If it is a Fortress FX-37 at a good price I don't think you can go wrong.

I took a look at their website and their parts order form requires a colour :

Thank you for your interest in our product. The different color versions signify the age and modifications that we have made to the anchors over the years. The black model is the oldest and original version, and it was last in production 20+ years ago. The blue version is 17 - 20 years old, and the current red version is 0 - 17 years old.

The newer versions have thicker stocks for added strength, the 32° & 45° angle adjustment, and the holes drilled out for the Mud Palms, which are shipped with each anchor, and we recommend that you permanently install them.

Your question is not uncommon, as our anchors seem to be sold quite frequently on eBay or Craig's List, and potential buyers often contact us to ask questions to make sure they are getting a new model version and at a fair price.

For your awareness, our Lifetime Parts Replacement Warranty applies to ALL Fortress anchor model versions, no matter the age or how many times an anchor has been bought or sold.
