Connecting to lengths of anchor chain?

The boat I just purchased has 50 feet of 5/16” chain. In total I would like 200 feet, is it possible to just purchase a 150 foot length and connect them (I have a windlass as well) or do I have to swap it out with a 200 foot length

You’re saving at most $150 so you can have a joined chain that may not play well with your windlass?
