I have often wondered about chain quality... so... modern quality standards pretty much all require above a 99% no defect rate. Let's think about that.... how long is 100 links of chain? Maybe 12Ft? So a supplier with a 99%+ no defect rate still could have a one defective link in every 12ft.! 99.5%? what is that.. a defect in 24 ft of chain? I know... not a direct analogy, but ...hmmm....you get the picture...

That right there is why we buy proof tested chain.

That is an Anchor Forerunner. This is a better swivel than the boat jewelry sold at We$t and others. It is what you will find on the chains of all large vessels. The swivel will easily run over a bow roller without stressing the swivel. 284 bucks at Washington Chain. It exceeds the breaking strength of my 7/16 G3 chain. 14mm was the smallest available.
