Nevermind converting the outboard. You and I will be much happier if you expend your effort on troubleshooting and repairing my old genset. You could even convert it to run on propane if it will make you happier.

That's nice attitude -- you don't like them, therefore they should be outlawed, so that no one has choice whether to use them or not.

I think I'll outlaw motorboats, ugly long-keel boats, and stupid people.

Seriously, many people who are not idiots, maybe even most people, prefer two-strokes for small outboards, and not just for reasons of weight. They are much more responsive, simpler, feel and sound good, to name just a few of their virtues. They are also far better than four strokes for snowmobiles and ultralight aircraft.
