Dinghy chafe on davits

I'm looking for advice on what to place between a davit and the tube of my Hypalon RIB to limit chafe during bouncy coastal passages.

When stowed the dinghy's tube rests against one davit. I can use various diagonal lines to limit but not completely eliminate the dinghy's motion against the davit. So I'm wondering what others have used to prevent tube damage/wear in such situations? A fender wouldn't balance well in the gap and would be too thick. I'm thinking of some kind of fabric or neoprene maybe???

FYI, here is a photo of the boat's very stout davits with the RIB.

Thanks for any advice.

First you should use ratchet straps to tie the dink down. Diagonally and straight in. I always use four ratchet straps. At sea there should be no movement whatsoever. As for chafing, use a pool noodle or those foam pipe insulation thingmys.
