Roller furling lock

I have a spool type roller furling for my 120% genoa. I'm considering adding a Block with Single Becket Cam to the furling line at the last turn of the line before the line is lead to the secondary winch. I currently use the secondary winch to reef the genoa but it would be significantly easier to use the primary winch to reef, lock the furling line, then transfer the furling line to the secondary winch, then relieve the load on the cam lock. Large genny on a 49' boat and I'm not about what kind of load would be placed on the cam. This is a cruising application, no racing. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.
