Refrigeration Systems

My Nova Cool (Danfoss) R12 unit called it quits today. What is the most energy efficient replacement unit? about 12-15 cubic ft of fridge. Need a freezer box of some sort. Any ideas?

Re: Refrigeration Systems

After dealing with reefer problems this year I would not have an external coil of any sort. Deal with the heat inside.

Re: Refrigeration Systems

We have had great success so far (2 years) with our Isotherm ASU Self Pumping cold plate reefer. It uses the galley sinks thru hull for cooling the system. In the northern waters of California (60-68 degrees) we had a nightly complete draw with everything else of around 25-35amps (all LED, with one laptop movie, LED anchor light) since getting into warmer waters that figure has increased. Depending on how long the night is and when the solar truly stops outputting we are averaging around 40- 50 amps, thats adding the 3 to4 .7amp fans we run all night. Water currently in Quepos, Costa Rica is averaging about 84-87 depending where we are anchored.

Hope that helps,

Jon

let me get this right , you have a 12 to 15 cubic foot fridge? thats very large . How is it insulated? you need to pick a system to match your BTU load and insulation.
