I'm not saying you couldn't or we couldn't if I designed the box different. The thing is our freezer is only 1/2 cu. ft. and we just want to keep some meat frozen for a couple weeks until we use it and then buy more. It just depends what your goals are. In our case it is very unlikely that we will ever be on the boat for more than 3 or maybe 5 months and so there is no reason to want to keep anything that long so no reason for us to have a freezer that operates at zero.
