Katadyn 80e-2 membrane

Hi, I just got quoted $665 each for membrane for Katadyn 80e. The 80e needs 2, that's $1330!!!!!
This is from the Australian Katadyn dealer. Has anyone purchased after market membranes, are they available? I've been told by the dealer ( who is genuinely a nice guy) that they are specifically made for Katadyn, thus the price.
This is a water maker that makes 12-13 liters per hour, seems a very expensive membrane.
Any help appreciated.

Is it possible to go away from Katadyn membrane housing? Replace with aftermarket housing and membrane?
